Android 6.0 "Marshmallow" is the eighth major version of the Android operating system. First unveiled in May 2015 at Google I/O under the codename "Android 'M'", it was officially released in October 2015.

Google has announced that the Android Marshmallow launch will be at the beginning of October. Currently, developers can play around with the final Android Marshmallow builds on the Nexus 5 and 6 smartphones plus the Nexus 9 and Nexus Player set-top box. Google has since confirmed that the Nexus 7 will also be among the first devices to the get the Marshmallow treatment. :) ;)

Google releases a slightly improved version of Android every year, but this time around it's pulled out all the stops. Android Marshmallow is the latest version of Android, and includes brand-new features that make using your smartphone even better. Features such as the battery-saving Doze mode and the highly intelligent Google Now on Tap represent a step forward - and overall Marshmallow is the biggest update to Google's mobile OS in ages.
